Upload of a high quality floor plan inside the Dragonfly Cloud Dashboard
- Access the Dragonfly dashboard at this link using your credentials.
- From the TOP menu select General > Floor Plans > Create new floorplan.
- Input the address.
- Choose a high quality floor plan image of your production/test environment with a maximum size of 5 MB each one. If you have a PDF floor plan, then you should convert it into an image file using Adobe Acrobat or an online service like those listed here.
- Select the Level ID, the Name and the Description. If you can’t select any of the listed levels, it means that there is already a floor plan image on each one of the levels and you need to create a NEW level!
- Move the floor plan to align it with the underlying building/area of interest. To help you with the positioning of the floor plan you can:
- switch to the Satellite view (using the button in the bottom left corner of the map)
- change the Floorplan opacity (using the slider in the top right corner of the map).
- Scale the floor plan properly so that the real-life dimensions of a couple of walls match the dimensions of the same walls inside the floor plan image. To do so you have to:
- Measure (with a classic meter or a laser meter) the length of 2 walls.
- Zoom in as much as possible so that the floor plan is centered on the area with the 2 walls measured.
- Use the ruler tool (the button with an arrow available in the right side of the map) to make sure the floor plan is properly scaled. If not, then continue scaling the floor plan until the measures taken on it (with the ruler tool) reflects those of the real walls. To clear the measures taken you can use the button with the “X” and to change the measurement unit you can use the button with the “M”. Please scale the floor plan image properly and don’t alter the proportions of the floor plan image.
- Click on DONE and wait for the floor plan to be saved.
The floor plan and the accuracy of Dragonfly
- Alignment with the underlying building/area – If you are not able to place the floor plan exactly on the building/area of interest because the Satellite View is blurry, don’t worry! This won’t affect the accuracy of the results produced by Dragonfly but will just introduce an offset between the real WGS84 coordinates and the WGS84 coordinates returned by Dragonfly.
- Scaling factor and proportions – The inaccuracies introduced during the scaling process will have a negative effect on the positions computed by Dragonfly!
